Impressions Of A Flower Market

Originally painted on smaller scale, this works is digitally blown up to be my biggest work yet. An impressive 176x340cm, this work rises up against the flanks of the church of Lo-Reninge while it is being renovated during the summer of 2025.
As the brief was to portray something that reflected the tension between city and countryside, I couldn’t help but think of markets bustling with people buying fresh produce. The multitude of flowers is something that just draws me in. Not me alone I guess. Is there any subject that has been depicted more throughout history? They are ephemeral and therefor perfect for nailing down on something more permanent like canvas.
