So I’ve been following art classes for some while at this point, I’m completing my third year this semester. I am, while me being absolutely all over the place concerning topic and style, being strongly encouraged – if not mildly obligated – to pick one subject and stick to it. My own interest guided me, within the theme of lightness and farce, to pick something colorful, cheerful, something to contrast the at times sober and serious demeanor of a war heritage town like that of my own. Not being able to afford far travels of my own, I went on to search on the internet, nothing much glorious about that, but what I encountered was magical. If you’ve watched my last posts, you may have discerned the theme of carnivals and festivals, which are held all over the world to celebrate holy days, special occasions, the overcoming of spring through winter and of life over death. And the costumes, colors, textures in which they do so is nothing short of breath-taking.
This piece of humanity was able to motivate me throughout the year to paint the people of the carnivals, some of which I had never heard of before, however close or far from home they actually are held.
It is my hope that you too, discover something new this way.
