There wasn’t a time in my life where I wasn’t engulfed by time spent on my own. Before I ever picked up painting, starting when I was five, I would retreat into my room and devour books and more books. Then later, I started writing, strolling around the town center, listening to music and singing aloud. Being alone meant I could unadulteratedly be myself. This fondness of solitude would at some point turn into a fascination for others who equally devote time to their own endeavors, who feel the need to temporarily to retreat from the world.
This painting is dedicated to G.B. Shaw, who built a hut in his garden onto a platform that could spin so he would have the best light to write in the whole day through. Absolutely loving this, but at the same time envious, because I too, would like to have the continuous clear of day to paint in. An ode to a creative genius.
