Must have been my third painting, and the first one I felt I could show. I had followed a few lessons under Teresa Argentina but I had fallen victim to homelessness and I had to quit my lessons. But it didn’t defeat me (entirely), and I remember logging around a suitcase with paints and canvasses and I eventually, when the dust settled and I did again too, re-enrolled in class. But “Deserted” is dear to me, because I finished it in that period. My sister holds on to it for me because of it.
